Media Campus at Artek

A special project of Rossiya Segodnya and Artek for young journalists from all over Russia

The Rossiya Segodnya Media Campus opened at the Artek International Children’s Center in spring 2017. The project provides a multimedia platform for the participants to meet with celebrities, international experts and politicians and to produce interviews, photo and video content for Artek-Media as well as the RIA Novosti website.

International experts host workshops on how to organize a news conference, write news reports and long reads, draw up a media plan, and manage effective social media accounts. At the end of each session, the young journalists receive a certificate from the Rossiya Segodnya media group.

Over 2,000 children and 100 adults have participated in the workshops at the media campus over the years. After completing training, instructors and counselors have gone on to work as journalists at the Rossiya Segodnya media group’s outlets, the Sirius Educational Center and other institutions of learning.

In 2020, Alyona Pellya, a media campus graduate and now a Rossiya Segodnya editor, was first runner-up in the PRO Education nationwide contest in the category “Journalists who make educational materials that can be trusted”.
